Atkins is a member of one of the six consortiums that have submitted bids to build four stations on Saudi Arabia’s new rail link between the cities of Mecca and Medina

The Saudi Railways Organisation announced this week that it had received six bids for the stations along the 450km high-speed line. The consortiums are Saudi Oger (with Atkins and Singapore’s ST Engineering), Al Arrab Alliance (with French firm Alstom and Austria’s Strabag), Al Mabani, Freyssinet, Nesma and Saudi Binladin (with German group Deutsche Bahn).

The contract includes stations in Mecca, Medina, Jeddah and the King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh.
