Barratt developments, Persimmon Homes, Bellway and St James Homes were among the housebuilders that picked up prizes at the Building Communities Awards 2005, hosted by Building at the London Hilton hotel on Park Lane on Wednesday evening.

Barratt picked up the award for Best Planning and Land Regeneration Strategy while Bellway won the award for Rural Housing Development of the Year for its Charlton Down scheme in Dorchester. Persimmon was named energy efficient housebuilder of the year and St James picked up two prizes: Private Housebuilder of the Year and the Placemaking Award for its Kew Riverside development in west London.

Other prize winners included Widacre Homes with Circle Anglia, Keepmoat, Midas Homes and Broadway Malyan Architects.
