BAA has begun talks with airline federation the Star Alliance which could lead to the redesign of Terminals 1, 2 and 3 at Heathrow.
The Star Alliance is made up of 15 major airlines operating at the Heathrow terminals.

The group told baa last year it was concerned that the Terminal 5 development, which is earmarked to become the home of Star Alliance’s rival the One World Group, would be more advanced than its own existing terminals.

BAA is understood to have discussed options for design changes to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 with the federation earlier this month.

Star Alliance strategy manager Kay Hunter said plans for redevelopment are in their early stages. An architect is not expected to be appointed for at least three months.

It is unclear how extensive the redesigns will be, but Hunter said: “The redevelopment may involve all three terminals, maybe just one.”
