Contractor sells interests in Aberdeen Environment Services and Consort Healthcare

Balfour Beatty has raised over £21m through the sale of its stake in Aberdeen Environmental Services and Consort Healthcare.

Aberdeen Environmental Services (AES) was set up as a joint venture between Kelda Water Services, Balfour Beatty and Earth Tech, to manage the design, build, finance and operation of four waste water treatment works in north-east Scotland.

Balfour Beatty has sold its entire 50% interest in the company to Kelda Non-Reg Holdco, an affiliate of Kelda Water Services.

It has also disposed of a 23.9% interest in Consort Healthcare to ERI Holdings.

Consort Healthcare provides serviced healthcare accommodation under PFI and includes schemes such as the Birmingham New Hospitals Project, Queens Park Hospital in Blackburn and Hope Hospital in Salford.

ERI is the other shareholder and wholly-owned by Barclays Integrated Infrastructure Fund.
