Balfour Beatty has won an £80m contract to design and build a 19-storey student accommodation building in London

The firm was appointed by Urbanest for the project on Westminster Bridge Road, which will comprise 1,092 bedrooms.

The AHMM-designed scheme will also accommodate a new sixth-form college, a health suite with swimming pool and affordable office space.  

The accommodation floors will include photovoltaic panels and combined heat and power technology to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Balfour Beatty said it would use modular off site construction techniques to create bathroom pods and a cladding system.
