David Leishman, previously commercial director for BAM Construction in Scotland, has taken over as director at BAM FM.

The division, which is part of BAM Construct UK, manages facilities at around 30 schools in the UK and employs 650 people nationwide.

Leishman, who joined BAM as a quantity surveyor in 1982, will work primarily from the company’s Glasgow offices.

He said his aim is to pursue more work in the “external market”, adding to contracts the division has already picked up when collaborating with BAM-related companies.

“The challenge for me isn’t about change,” he said, “but how we build on what has already been achieved over the past nine years and to continue BAM FM’s journey towards its full potential. Over the next three years, the company’s objective is to increase its turnover from £25m to £40m.”
