Work to start early next year

Bam is preferred builder for the first phase of a £350m mixed-use development in Leeds.

The contractor will start work on a 38,000ft² office development (pictured) at Globe Point, next door to the city’s main railway station, early next year.

The regeneration of the area, known as Temple, is being project managed by Turner & Townsend and masterplanned by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, for developer Commercial Estates Group. FCB Studios is main architect on the scheme as well.

The second phase of work, which also has detailed planning permission, may come forward simultaneously and would see a 131,200ft² building with ground floor retail and leisure.

The area will also retain a grade II-listed bridge and the grade I-listed Temple Mill.

Last month, Dutch-owned Bam said revenue at its UK business slipped 3% to €883m (£807m) in the first six months of the year with pre-tax profit tumbling a third to €15.7m (£14m).
