Bam Construct is set to start work on a £20m leisure centre in Bridlington, Yorkshire after the project was given planning permission.

The firm expects to start work in January on the development, which will include among other features three pools of varying size, a 70-station fitness studio, a six-court sports hall, a climbing wall, and a sauna.

John Phillips, construction director for BAM Construct, said: “We’ll bring a local team to this project together with our reputation for quality and our considerate approach. It’s an exciting project – the leisure sector often has unique buildings that need an eye for quality and a collaborative, problem-solving culture like ours.”

The project is the firm’s second major leisure project in the area, with three projects in Hull and Huddersfield Sports Centre under construction.
