Barratt has been appointed by English Partnerships to develop a £100m estate in the M11 corridor.

The 11 ha site in Harlow, Essex, was acquired from English Partnerships with outline planning consent for 530 homes.

The site, known as the Harlow Gateway, is less than an hour away from London. Viewed as an important commuter town, Harlow has been identified as a key area for expansion in the South-east.

Barratt has submitted an application to Harlow council for the first phase of building and hopes to launch the scheme in September.

The housebuilder is working with Grafik Architects of Essex to develop a range of houses.

The scheme is one of several developments Barratt has in Harlow.

It has recently completed apartments at the City Links scheme, as well as a townhouse development at Newhall. The firm is also developing an apartment scheme near Old Harlow.
