Barratt is planning a new housing development on the outskirts of Bristol, a move the firm claims will create and support around 7,500 jobs.

Some 2,450 new homes, including more than 800 affordable units, will be built at Ladden Garden Village in North Yate by Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes.

Chris Burton (pictured), regional managing director for Barratt Developments, said construction at Ladden Garden Village was due to start next spring, with the decade-long project featuring a new primary school and public open space.

The land at North Yate has been allocated for the new housing and received outline planning permission in 2015.

Barratt recently withdrew from its role as development partner on the £6bn Enfield 10,000-home regeneration scheme.
