Bayliss joins BAA after 12 years at Hong Kong's MTR Corporation working on rail projects

BAA has appointed Roger Bayliss as its new group construction director.

Bayliss, 47, joins BAA from Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation. During his twelve years at MTR, Bayliss worked on mass transit rail projects, a tourism related car project and the Corporation’s expansion into China.

From November, Bayliss will lead BAA’s construction activities across the seven UK airports, excluding Terminal 5.

BAA Chief Executive Mike Clasper said that Bayliss’s experience would be invaluable to the company. He said: I am delighted that Roger Bayliss is joining the business. This is an important role which presents Roger with tremendous scope and opportunity”.

Bayliss commented: “I am delighted to be joining BAA, one of the UK’s premier companies. The current investment programme will clearly present me with an exciting, challenging opportunity”.

BAA plans to invest over £8 billion into UK airport infrastructure over the next ten years, including over £4 billion on non-Terminal Five work.
