BDG McColl has closed its £5m-turnover design-and-build business to concentrate on design.
The firm's interior division Workplace, which offered design-and-build services, will now focus on advising blue-chip clients such as Boots and Accenture on property needs and interior design.

The decision to withdraw from low-margin design-and-build work took effect at the start of the year. The firm will retain two construction managers until March to finish existing projects. BDG McColl expects to turn over £10m in 2001 from Workplace, its retail and leisure design division and the architectural practice.
