175,000m2 scheme will also feature a fun park

BDP has revealed plans for a major new shopping and leisure destination on the outskirts of Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city.

The practice has produced the masterplan and concept design for the scheme, known as the Vaha Project, and is working with local architect EPIG.

The mixed-use development will comprise over 175,000m2 of retail, leisure, education, social and religious buildings, as well as a fun park being created with Los Angeles-based leisure consultant Utopia Entertainment.

The site will be laid out as a series of island destinations linked by bridges and landscaped routes. A central external space overlooked by cafes and restaurants will form the focal point of the project.
