Trevor Beattie leaves quango after losing out on the chief executive’s job

Trevor Beattie, the director of placemaking at the Homes and Communities Agency, is to leave the quango after more than 17 years working for it and its predecessor English Partnerships.

Beattie, who reported to outgoing chief executive Bob Kerslake, led the team that created the HCA three years ago, but lost out to former north-east director Pat Ritchie for the chief executive’s job.

Beattie, who runs the regeneration activities of the body, will not be replaced. Ritchie, who took over from Kerslake this week, is likely to have to restructure the agency as it adapts to a slimmed-down role.

As well as funding affordable rented housing, the HCA will advise on disposal of land formerly owned by regional development agencies.
