Sabco bucks Middle East redundancy trend with extra staff for extension of Jubail Industrial City

Bechtel’s Saudi operation wants to recruit 70 new people by the end of the year. The Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (Sabco) needs the staff to work on the extension of Jubail Industrial City.

The programme manager for Jubail, George Dinic, told Construction Week Online he would bolster the professional workforce from 300 to 370 - bucking the trend of job losses in the Gulf region.

Sabco is currently overseeing the multi-billion dollar expansion of Jubail, including the development of Jubail Two, a 84km² industrial zone for petrochemical clients.

Jubail is a massive industrial complex in Ash Sharqiyah province on the Arabian Gulf coast, 100km northwest of Ad Dammam. It contains an oil refinery, a steel mill, and one of the world's largest desalination plants, which also generates electric power.
