Exclusive: Six contractors in the running to build Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands-designed sports centre at University of Birmingham

Sir Robert McAlpine, Balfour Beatty and Bam are among six firms in the running for a £35m job to build a Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands-designed sports centre at the University of Birmingham.

Building understands that Sir Robert McAlpine, Balfour Beatty, Bam Construct, Galliford Try, Interserve and Willmott Dixon are all bidding for the job to build the new sports centre, which is part of the university’s wider £175m development of its Edgbaston campus.

The sports centre will include a 50m swimming pool as well as a gym, sports courts and playing fields.

It’s understood that bids are expected to be submitted next month, with construction expected to start in the summer.
