THe managing director of Heery International, the construction management arm of Balfour Beatty, is to leave the company following a restructuring of the firm.

Graham Rice is leaving Heery after it was merged into the Balfour Beatty Management division last year.

Rice’s departure follows in the wake of marketing director Chris Houchin, who moved to Bovis Lend Lease earlier this month.

Balfour Beatty Management was set up two years ago by Balfour Beatty to take on programme management roles in the infrastructure sector. It is headed by ex-Atkins employee David James.

A Balfour Beatty source confirmed Rice’s imminent departure. The source said: “There have been a number of changes since the merger including personnel switch and office moves.”

The Balfour source added that the Heery brand may well be dropped following the merger. He said: “It’s quite conceivable that could happen. It will be simpler to operate with a single brand. ”
