French contractor Bouygues has appointed Philippe Bonnave head of its European division.
Bonnave, 48, will take over from Rene Jacquot on 1 January, with responsibility for the group's £1bn-turnover construction operations across Europe, excluding the Paris region.

He is currently chief executive of Bouygues subsidiary DV Construction, which operates in south-west France and Spain, and has an expected turnover of £120m this year.

Bouygues, which operates telecommunications and services businesses in addition to contracting, was formed in 1952. Its construction operations outside France have tripled in 10 years, and accounted for more than half of the group's construction turnover last year.
