Housebuilder boosts land bank in first six months of year with purchase of land for 4,400 new homes

Bovis Homes has reported that it sold 6% more homes in the first half of 2010 than the same period in 2009.

In a trading update the firm announced that it completed on 803 homes in the six months up to the end of June, 2010. In the same period in 2009 it sold 754 homes. The average price for social and private housing dropped however, from 159,700 in the first half of 2009 to 158,500.

Bovis Homes is continuing its strategy of buying land with residential planning consent. Since the start of 2010 it has bought 1,900 plots with planning consent for homes worth £107m, 80% of which is in the south of England. It has also agreed terms for a further 2,500 plots.
