Board approached by chief exeuctive and finance director

Tool hire group Brandon hire has announced that it has been approached by management to take the company private.

Chief executive Charles Skinner and finance director Chris Sims are leading the bid.

The company said that the approach will be considered by a committee of independent directors, but emphasised that discussions are at "a very preliminary stage".

In its last interim results, Brandon reported a turnover of £26.4m, up 18%, and a pre-tax profit of £1.7m, down from £2.1m.

Shares in Brandon closed at 163p, having opened at 153.5p.
