Advert calls for someone from UK industry to mastermind redevelopment of Richard Branson’s Caribbean home

Sir Richard Branson has launched a search for someone from the UK building industry to mastermind the redevelopment of his Caribbean house in what could be the best construction management job in the world.

The role, on Branson’s own Necker Island, is worth $90,000 plus a bonus, accommodation and food and is advertised in this week’s Building (out 27 January).

The advert follows the devastating fire last summer that forced Branson, his 90-year-old mother and actress Kate Winslet among others to flee the 10,000ft2 house in the middle of the night. The successful candidate will oversee the 18-month rebuild and must have a wide range of skills including “understanding the cultural issues involved and the requirements for a happy Caribbean team” and dealing with the risk of fire.

Branson said in his blog last August: “We’ll create something even more special out of the ruins.”
