Universities to have dedicated environmental building standard in June 2009
A specific BREEAM standard for higher education buildings is due to be launched next year.
BREEAM for HE will cover nine different types of building types most commonly used in university campuses. The Building Research Establishment (BRE) has completed an initial consultation on the standard and is preparing a draft manual that will detail the new standard in further detail.
The standard will be tested in a number of pilot projects from the end of this year to Spring of 2009, ahead of the full launch of the BREEAM for HE standard next June.
