Mike Power joins football club board to oversee building of new stadium near Kew Bridge

The former chief operating officer for the London 2012 Olympic bid team has joined the board of Brentford football club.

Mike Power has been named as a non-executive director of the club, which is embarking on a project to build a new stadium at a site in Lionel Road, Brentford.

The club are planning to switch from Griffin Park to a purpose-built 20,000-seat stadium at the site near Kew Bridge within the next four years and will use Power's expertise to help drive the project.

Greg Dyke, Brentford chairman and former director-general of the BBC, said: "To attract someone of Mike's stature and experience to help us with the project is a real coup. As work intensifies on the design and the commercial negotiations, it is essential that we have a strong team."
