Schools standards minister David Miliband this week named the 14 local authorities that will spearhead the government's Building Schools for the Future plan, which aims to rebuild or refurbish every secondary school in England. In the first wave, due to start in 2005/06, £2.2bn will be shared between 180 schools in the 14 regions, which include Leeds, Manchester and Sunderland. The design team included Claruspcm as cost consultant, Bryantson Square as educational adviser and Mowlem as buildability consultant.
