Consultant Capita Symonds this week said that it had become a £200m-turnover business.

Managing director Richard Marchant was in a bullish mood when the results were announced and said that the plan was to increase in size and turnover a further 50% in the next three years.

Highlights in the year to the end of December 2005 included its appointment on the £1.86bn Dubai rail system, providing design and engineering services.

It also launched a joint venture with Salford council and contractor Morrison for a regeneration project and extended a partnership with Cumbria council or a further three years to 2011.

In addition it has been appointed with Mowlem as preferred bidder on the Cardiff Transportation Partnership.

In the same period its parent company the Capita Group announced a 19% increase in pre-tax profit to £177.2m. Turnover rose 12% to £1.43bn.

Capita Symonds is the fifth largest multidisciplinary consultant in the UK.
