Consortium ready to take on project to create a world-class transport network for Welsh capital.

Cardiff Council has named the Capita Symonds/Mowlem consortium as the preferred bidder for the Cardiff Transportation Partnership, a strategic project charged with developing an integrated, world-class transport network for the Welsh capital.

Capita Symonds will now draw up a scheme for Cardiff to define the scope and scale of the potential partnership.

Elgan Morgan, Welsh executive member for environment and transportation, welcomed the decision, saying: "The development of the Cardiff Transportation Partnership is an important step in meeting the changing transportation needs of the city and the wider region. The council, Capita Symonds and Mowlem will be working in partnership with key stakeholders, particularly the business sector, city centre retailers and the wider community, thereby marketing Cardiff as a vibrant and attractive European capital."

Graham Cogswell, Director of Capita Symonds, described Cardiff as “one of the most forward-thinking cities in the world”, saying: “Capita Symonds and Mowlem are proud to be involved in such a pioneering and innovative project, helping Cardiff to develop a modern transport infrastructure."
