Multi-disciplinary consultant Capita Symonds has provided structural engineering services on Ode to Audi, a sculpture for car company Audi unveiled in China to celebrate one million Audi cars built the country.

The work of sculptor Gerry Judah, it was unveiled in the city of Changchun by Audi’s Chinese partner FAW-VW.

The 33m-high sculpture is made of steel and features a icosahedron at the central core, 32 triangular and circular ‘rays’ each with pyrotechnics and permanent lighting installations, topped by an Audi A6 car.

Audi arrived in China 22 years ago and is now the most successful premium carmaker in the country.

Capita also works with Gerry Judah on the annual centrepiece display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
