£150m Scottish PPP scheme will see construction of 10 new facilities for 6,000 children.

Carillion, Amey and the Bank of Scotland has reached financial close on a £150m Scottish schools PPP project.

The joint venture will deliver nursery, primary and secondary schools for Renfrewshire Council, creating new facilities for 6,000 children in Paisley, Linwood and Johnstone.

The scheme will involve the construction of ten new facilities across nine different sites. Construction is due for completion in December 2007.

Carillion chief executive John McDonough said: “This is an increasingly important growth sector for Carillion and we expect further opportunities to bid for PPP and non-PPP projects under the government’s £25bn Building Schools for the Future campaign."

Carillion is the preferred bidder on three other PP projects: the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, an Independent Sector Treatment Sector in Basildon and a social housing project in North East Derbyshire together worth £1.2bn.
