Carillion will upgrade Marylebone and Beaconsfield stations and undertake major track and signalling works in £50m PFI.

Carillion has reached financial close on a £50m PFI contract to upgrade Marylebone and Beaconsfield stations for Chiltern Railways.

The contractor has been awarded the two-year design, build, finance and transfer contract by Laing Rail in conjunction with Network Rail and the Strategic Rail Authority.

The project includes the provision of two additional platforms at Marylebone, drainage, lighting and signalling works. Beaconsfield station will benefit from an increase in line speed to 75mph created by permanent way realignment and signalling enhancements.

Carillion’s Transport’s managing director Paul Kirk said: “We look forward to working with Chiltern Railways to deliver the infrastructure improvements that will result in a faster and better train service for passengers using this route.”
