Robert O’Hara Architects has received planning permission for this cultural and community centre in Brent, north-west London.

The £4.5m centre has been designed for client Waqf al-Birr, an educational charity trust founded by Yusuf Islam, the singer formerly known as Cat Stevens. The building, known as Maqam, which is Arabic for “place of learning”, involves the renovation of a disused church.
