Trustees of the Construction Confederation’s pension scheme have issued a petition for the group to be liquidated

The petition was filed on 30 October for a judge to determine whether the Construction Confederation (CC), an unincorporated body, can be classed as a company and can therefore be liquidated.

The move follows Building’s report that the confederation has a £20m black hole in its pension fund, which could affect about 500 members.

If the CC is classed as a company, the trustees can apply for it to be covered by the government’s Pension Protection Fund.
