Consultant provides cost advice on Church Village Bypass now open to public following 20 years of campaigning

Consultant ChandlerKBS has provided the procurement and cost management advice on a major new road scheme in South Wales. The firm provided advice for the Church Village Bypass scheme run by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.

The road has opened to the public after two years of construction and over 20 years of campaigning and hard work. The £90m Bypass stretches over 7km and was the largest project of its kind undertaken by a local authority in the UK over the past two years. It is seen as strategically important for the economic regeneration of the whole of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The Bypass will remove traffic from the surrounding residential areas and the heavily congested A473 whilst providing environmental and safety benefits to local residents, shoppers and businesses.

Simon Parkhouse, partner at ChandlerKBS, said: “The Church Village Bypass has been a major achievement for ChandlerKBS as the project was delivered on time and within budget and provided an outstanding example of effective partnership working. All contractors in the supply chain were encouraged to work collaboratively and to share in any cost savings that were made by this approach..”
