Major building sites around Britain have opened their doors to the public today as as part of a two-day event planedn to showcase the construction industry.

The Open Doors initiative on 9 and 10 November will give the public the chance to take guided tours of 91 sites, including the new Birmingham library (pictured) as well as Leeds Arena development and the Tate Modern extension in London.

The scheme is the result of a partnership between the UK Contractors Group, CITB-ConstructionSkills, the Considerate Constructors Scheme and the Chartered Institute of Building.
