The UK construction sector's growth in June was the fastest for 12 months, according to a report by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and BuildOnline.
The survey recorded an index rating of 59.8 in June, compared with 58.2 in May. The score for no growth is 50.

The report did add that despite the increase in activity, the pace of growth was down on that seen in the first half of last year.

The housing sector showed particularly strong growth, with the index rising from 61.6 in May to 62.5 in June. Other strong sectors included civil engineering, which rose from 55 to 58.7 points.

The figures showed that construction has seen the fastest rise in staffing levels for 10 months – the index rose from 54.6 to 57.

Roy Ayliffe, CIPS director of professional practice, said that rising input prices had not deterred clients.
