Work involves the installation of solar panels on 9,000 Welsh properties

Contractors are being invited to bid for a scheme which involves the installation of solar panels on 9,000 properties in Wales. United Welsh Housing Association and Torfaen County Borough Council have formed a purchasing consortium to let a one-year framework contract worth approximately £54m.

Works will involve the design, supply and fit of photo voltaic electricity generation systems to existing residential or commercial properties.

Lot 1 of the framework is valued at £6m and covers 1,000 properties for United Welsh Housing Association.

Lot 2 comprises 3,000 properties under the remit of Torfaen County Borough Council and is worth £18m.

Lot 3 comprises 5,000 properties from other Welsh housing associations and local authorities and is valued at £30m

The clients are seeking to appoint up to 15 framework partners. The deadline for receipt of tenders is 17 June.
