Jarvis wins £75m schools job
Contractor Jarvis has been appointed preferred bidder by Brighton & Hove Council for a £75m schools contract. The 25-year project will see Jarvis refurbish and provide facilities management to four schools.

McAlpine to rebuild Redcar
Teesmac Developments has appointed contractor Sir Robert McAlpine for an £8m redevelopment of Redcar town centre in Cleveland. The 23-unit development was designed by Carey Jones Architects and WSP Engineers.

Tilbury wins sports institute
Tilbury Douglas has been selected as the preferred contractor for the £24m English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. Construction will commence in February next year.

Cowlin scoops £40m of work
South-west and south Wales contractor Cowlin Construction has secured more than £40m of contracts. Highlights include the £13m Dorothy Hodgkin building for the University of Bristol and Countryside Properties' £6.5m apartments scheme in Cardiff Bay.

Norwest Holst's double deal
Contractor Norwest Holst has secured two contracts to build warehouse facilities for developers Redbourn Group and General Motors Acceptance Corporation. The £11.7m Redbourn contract is for a Northampton industrial development, and the General Motors contract in Cheshire is worth £12.3m.

Gleeson to enlarge Safeway
Contractor Gleeson has won the £4.2m contract to enlarge a Safeway supermarket store in St Albans. The extension is due for completion in 19 weeks.

Boot lands two big jobs
Contractor Henry Boot has won £5m of contracts, including the £3m extension to Goodwin sports centre and a £1.1m new-build retail unit at the Rock retail premises, Birkenhead.
