Croydon to get a facelift
Developer Arrowcroft has signed a development agreement with Croydon council in south London for the £300m redevelopment of its Gateway site. The scheme will include a 12,500-seat arena, a health club and more than 500 apartments.

Heery heads for Scotland
Heery International is to project manage the infrastructure works for the expansion of Heriot-Watt research park in south-east Edinburgh. The £4.3m project is a joint venture between Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian and Heriot-Watt University.

Lighting up Sunderland …
SBB, a joint venture between Balfour Beatty Capital Projects and electricity supplier Seeboard, has been named preferred bidder for a £100m PFI street and lighting signs contract by Sunderland council. The 25-year contract starts in January.

… and brightening Sainsbury's
Bespoke joinery specialist Benbow Interiors has been appointed to create work interiors for supermarket operator J Sainsbury's headquarters in Holborn, central London. The project includes manufacturing and installing panelling and wardrobes.

Sloane reaches 250th year
Sir John Sloane's Museum in central London is marking the 250th anniversary of its founder's birth with two contracts. No 14 Lincoln's Inn Fields, once owned by architect Sloane and recently acquired by the museum, is to be restored in a £1.3m project as is a complex of three courtyards.

Leicester housing upgrade
Leicester Housing Association has named Midlands-based Newlife Regeneration construction as preferred contractor on a £6m deal to refurbish 220 former council homes on the Braunstone estate.
