Corner-cutting: Architect Rem Koolhaas’ design for the £385m headquarters of the Chinese television corporation in Beijing has been revealed to the public. Koolhaas’ practice, Office for Metropolitan Architecture beat off 10 competitors to win the project, including Dominique Perrault, Kohn Pedersen Fox and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The 230 m tall building will have a floor space of 400,000 m2 combining broadcasting studios with offices. Structural and mechanical engineer on the project is Arup.
