The A-one+ consortium has been given the managing agent contractor contract by the Highways Agency to carry out routine maintenance and improvements to trunk roads across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham and North Yorkshire.

Andrew Wyllie, chief executive of Costain, said: "We have targeted maintenance contracts as a key priority in line with our strategic goal of achieving a significant market share in this area."
