Pensioner who painted listed home blue risks court action

A pensioner has been threatened with legal action after painting her cottage blue.

Sheila New, aged 70, spent £500 giving her 230-year-old house a new look, but council officials have told her the new shade breaches regulations and is “detrimental” to the Grade II listed building in Crewkerne, Somerset.

Council officials are demanding Ms New return the cottage to its original shade of yellow.
