Building's 2005 Specialist Contractor Awards, now in their third year, will take place on 3 November at the London Hilton hotel on Park Lane.

This year the awards, which honour Britain's best specialist contractors, have been judged by the industry's biggest clients including BAA, Land Securities and NHS Procure21.

Fifty-three companies shortlisted for the 12 main categories include: Billington Structures, O'Keefe Construction and Severfield Rowen for structural specialist of the year; Balfour Kilpatrick, Haden Young, Hotchkiss, Marconi Communications, Mitie Engineering and Smoke Control Services for M&E specialist of the year; 4M Flooring, Twintec and WB Simpson & Sons for the flooring specialist award; and Drawn Metal, Mace, Schneider GB and Yorkon for off-site specialist.

There is also an award for specialist personality of the year and an award for best client of the year.

The event promises to be a night to remember, with up to 1000 expected to enjoy the black-tie gala dinner, celebrity host, charity casino and other entertainment sponsored by Mivan.
