Materials group boasts record €2.1bn spent on acquisitions in 2006

Building materials group CRH has announced it has made 31 acquisitions worth over €400m in the second half of 2006.

On top of previous acquisitions of American Cement Company and Ashland Paving and Construction in August, the group’s total spend on acquisitions for the second half of last year was around €1.3bn.

The company’s acquisition spend for the entire year therefore reached a record €2.1bn.

CRH’s chief executive, Liam O’Mahony said: “Development momentum in 2006 has been very strong with a total of 69 acquisitions concluded, including APAC, the largest single transaction completed by the group. This record acquisition spend will be an important factor in further driving growth across all CRH divisions.”
