Andrew Wolstenholme will replace David Higgins as industry chair of leadership body later this month

Andrew Wolstenholme

The chief executive of Crossrail Andrew Wolstenholme has been named as the new industry chair of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).

Wolstenholme will replace the incumbent David Higgins after the recast Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) next meeting on 21 October.

Wolstenholme will co-chair the body with the government chair, skills minister Nick Boles.

The news comes after the Conservatives overhauled the CLC over the summer, with several new members appointed and the overall number of attendees slashed from 30 to just 13.

The other members are David Cash of BDP, Mike Chaldecott of Saint Gobain, Brian Morrisroe of Morrisroe Construction, Mike Putnam of Skanska, Simon Rawlinson of Arcadis, Madani Sow of Bouygues UK, Anna Stewart of Laing O’Rourke, Stephen Stone of Crest Nicholson, and government department representatives where appropriate.

Boles said: “As chairman Andrew brings the unrivalled experience of managing Europe’s largest infrastructure project and construction roles across the world.

“He will take over from Sir David, who has provided invaluable leadership for the construction industry at a key time of recovery and growth.”
