UK architect is on shortlist for building to mark composer’s 250th birthday

Chipperfield

David Chipperfield is the only British architect on the shortlist to build a new concert hall in Germany that will mark the 250th birthday of Beethoven.

The practice is up against Luxembourg-based Valentiny hvp and local practice Kadawittfeldarchitektur.

More than 50 firms submitted ideas for the concert hall which will be built next to the Rhine in Bonn, where the composer was born. Chipperfield’s submission is pictured.

A winner will be chosen next year.
