Military police have carried out a dawn raid on Skanska's landmark Ministry of Defence headquarters refurbishment project in Whitehall
The police are understood to have been acting on a tip-off that drugs were being used and dealt on the site. However, no arrests were made.

An MoD police spokesperson confirmed that they had been called to the site by Skanska on Monday to investigate claims that drug dealing was happening on the site.

He said: "Nothing was found on the visit and no arrests were made. However at the request of Skanska we will be making visits to the site in the future with sniffer dogs as a precautionary measure." The spokesperson added that the visits would be made at the discretion of the police.

A project source told Building: "Security on the site is very strict and the workers were not expecting any police searches – never mind sniffer dogs – so it caught a few of them out."

Skanska refused to comment and the MoD Police were unavailable for comment as Building went to press.
