Babcock and Bovis Lend Lease will provide 5000 beds for the military over next five years

The Ministry of Defence has selected the Debut Services consortium for the second phase of the Defence Estates’ Single Living Accommodation Modernistaion project (SLAM II).

Debut is a joint venture between support services company Babcock International Group and Bovis Lend Lease.

The five-year project will deliver 7000 bed spaces across England and Wales for the armed services.

Babcock will provide £20m of maintenance services for the completed units over a seven-year period.

Babock chief executive Peter Rogers said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the second phase of this Project. Together with Bovis Lend Lease, we are committed to working in partnership with Defence Estates to deliver a high standard of living accommodation for armed services personnel.”

Phase I of the SLAM project has seen Debut Services build and maintain around 14,000 single living bed spaces.
