Southwark council has chosen British Land/Canada Quays as its preferred developer for a 16 ha masterplan development at Canada Water in east London. Proposals include the development of community facilities around the Canada Water dock, with a library and community resource centre, an aquatic centre, a department store and public spaces. The plans also include 2000 homes and 100,000 ft2 of space for offices, small business units and live–work areas. The winning team also includes Urban Strategies, CZWG Architects and Arup.
