Arabian Park Hotel offers free meal to anyone with proof of redundancy

A hotel in Dubai is offering all visitors a free meal – provided they show they have been made redundant by the economic slump.

The Arabian Park Hotel said that all unemployed dinner-seekers had to do was show up with their lay-off letter in hand.

Hotel manager Mark Lee said: “Being made redundant at this time of the year is no fun at all and we’re trying to give a little bit of festive cheer back.” He added that the offer applies to those not living in Dubai as well.

Lee said although overall sales since the start of the three-star hotel’s financial year were up on last time, business in November had slipped 6% compared to the previous year.

State-owned developer Nakheel recently said it was shedding 500 jobs and was forced to mothball the Trump Towers hotel and residential scheme.
