Consultant joins forces to establish an international platform for eco assessment methods

EC Harris has joined the Sustainable Building Alliance to help establish a common platform for environmental assessment methods internationally.

Supported by the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Buildings, and established in April 2008, the SB Alliance is a the non-profit international network of universities, research centres and technical assessment organisations.

The consultant will support the alliance through its global network of offices as well as contribute to the property valuation steering group.

Matt Fulford, head of sustainability at EC Harris, said: “Being able to demonstrate the sustainability credentials of built assets will be a key requirement to delivering value in future market conditions.”

He noted that the alliance will also enable the firm to offer clients the best solutions to meet their sustainability demands.

He said: “In many circumstances we are already seeing our European clients working to gain two or three different certification standards on their properties to meet the differing demands of local tenants and international investors.”
