Consultant wins contracts on Great Western mainline upgrade

EC Harris has been appointed by Hitachi Rail to provide consultancy services on the construction of three rail depots on the Great Western mainline.

The consultant will provide project, commercial and risk management services under the contract.

The new depots will support the development of new inter-city trains on the soon-to-be electrified Great Western mainline.

The new depots will be built between London Paddington and Swansea at London North Pole, Bristol Stoke Gifford and Swansea Maliphant.

Simon Jones, partner at EC Harris, said: “Working with such an important, multinational client who is making significant investment in the UK’s transport and manufacturing sectors will help to raise our profile in both the UK and abroad.

“These new depots will be crucial in helping to facilitate the introduction of new trains on to the network and we look forward to working with Hitachi and the chosen contractor to deliver a successful outcome”.
